From NCES IPEDS data and SBCTC unit record data.  Data for community and technical colleges reflects only those instructional programs (CIP codes) that received funding under the SBCTC's High Demand Program, since its inception in 2001.

  • Engineering degrees are awarded by UW, WSU, and EWU.
  • Engineering Technologies and Technicians, Computer and Information Sciences, and Allied Health & Health Sciences degrees and certificates are awarded by both 2-year and 4-year institutions.
  • Math, Biological and Physical Sciences are high demand fields at the baccalaureate level and above.
  • High demand transfer degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and Construction Management degrees and certificates are awarded by community and technical colleges.
  • Two-year degrees and certificates indicated are in those fields where "High Demand" funding has been awarded.

  • The total number of high demand degrees and certificates awarded by public institutions has grown by 32% since 2002-03.  This is more than three times the rate of growth for total degree production by all Washington institutions. 
  • Allied Health and Heath Sciences has shown consistent and steady increases in degrees conferred since 2002-03, growing by 54%.
  • The number of graduates in Math, Biological and Physical Sciences has increased by 33% since 2002-03.
  • The number of graduates in engineering technologies has increased by 33% since 2002-03.
