Region 1 is a diverse region which stretches from the Canadian border to the northern suburbs of Seattle. As a result, portions of the region have benefited from both the planning efforts under way in the Seattle Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Region and, from the 2010 security efforts under way in the northern part of the region.
Region 1 - The Seattle UASI Region was successful during the month of August in demonstrating that they meet the criteria for Goal 1 of the National Emergency Communications Plan. The goal states by 2010, 90% of all high risk urban area designated within the UASI are able to demonstrate response-level emergency communications within one hour for routine events involving multiple jurisdictions and agencies.
· Region 2 - Interoperable systems have been set up to be used on a daily basis.
· Region 2 - Agencies are engaged in preparing for F.C.C mandated narrowbanding. Most agencies in the region indicate they are aware of narrow requirements and will be prepared to meet the January, 2013, deadline.
· Region 3 - Extensive agreements exist between and among the agencies in the region for mutual aid and other support services.
· Region 3 - The region has successfully completed development of the Regional Tactical Interoperable Communications Plan (TIC-P).
